Over the years, I studied painting at the Cheltenham Center for the Arts, the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, and, most recently, at the Main Line Art Center in Haverford, Pennsylvania.  I am a member of the Delaware Valley Art League, an organization with more than 200 artists as its members. My paintings have been exhibited in the permanent venues of the Delaware Valley Art League, in the galleries at the Main Line Art Center, and at other venues in the Delaware Valley.  My work has been acknowledged by other artists who have awarded me prizes in juried shows.

This gallery contains paintings that I selected from four series of my work, as well as abstract paintings outside of those series.

The Lenape Territory Series
The Lenape encamped along the Schuylkill River and short distances inland until the early Eighteenth Century. The field of boulders in the Bala Cynwyd Recreational Center is considered to be a place associated with the Lenape.  The area now called the Riverbend Environmental Nature Center was a station and fishing ground for them. Not far from Riverbend, Mill Creek empties into the Schuylkill River.  The Lenape Territory Series was inspired by these locations.

Manayunk Series
Manayunk is an old Philadelphia neighborhood.  Main Street, with its small shops and restaurants, runs along the Manayunk Canal and the Schuylkill River, and is situated at the bottom of the sloping Roxborough-Manayunk hillside. Old railroad and vehicular bridges add to the picturesque mix.

The Henry Botanical Garden Series
The land along the Schuylkill River near where the river bends to the west is home to many parks, hiking trails, and a few old mansions. The Henry Foundation for Botanical Research and its Botanic Garden is in that neck of the woods and one of those old mansions is its home. The botany, the boulders, the buildings, and the views of the surrounding land provided the inspiration for this series of work.

The Hypoluxo to Delray Series
Hypoluxo Island and Delray Beach are north of Boca Raton and south of Palm Beach.  There is much to see: The beaches, the Intracoastal Waterway, main street in the small towns, the restaurants, the yachts. This series includes images that attempt to capture the local scene.
